How much do you know about African Grey parrots ?

Such a popular pet parrot everywhere. They are bred all over the world and perhaps even more so in their native country, so much if fact that some exciting mutations have been bred and are being further developed in recent years. This DVD presentation is another in the series by Eelco Meyjes and is equally as well done. It features not only how to be successful in breeding this bird, but with the help of one of South Africa's leading avian Vets, also looks at many aspects of their health and care, enabling this knowledge and know to be transferred to other parrot species. For those that want to enjoy the bird as a pet there are sections that deal with, "Buying Your Bird", "Teach it to Talk", "***ing Your Bird". And for the serious breeder there are other parts on "Aviary and Nest Box Design", "Food and Nutrition", "Resting Your Breeding Stock" and much more.

The section on mutations will interest everybody. The Red mutation seen on this page and described in detail on the DVD is a world first. This mutation has come from a breeding program undertaken by a partnership of a few involved with this bird in South Africa, which included sourcing new legally caught wild birds as well aviary bred specimens. I am sure once established they will demand a high price for those fortunate enough to own some, although as usual some will say why spoil such an unusually coloured and unique bird. Still to others, the unusual colour of this mutation will appeal to many.
